Job Description: Internal Accountant – Small Business

Position Summary:
We are on the search for a dedicated and highly motivated Internal Accountant to join our team. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring smooth month-end closes, and supporting strategic decision-making processes. Beyond routine accounting duties, the position offers the opportunity to contribute to projects aimed at improving efficiency, enhancing customer experience, and increasing profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Bookkeeping:
  • Handle day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain organized financial records in compliance with regulatory standards.

Month-End Close:

  • Manage and execute the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile accounts, verify data accuracy, and maintain the integrity of financial records.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive financial and performance reports.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Review and discuss financial reports with team members and owners, providing actionable feedback.

Collaboration:

  • Engage frequently with business owners and other team members to align financial strategies with operational goals.
  • Provide financial insights to support business decisions and strategic planning.

Process Improvement Projects:

  • Utilize available time to spearhead projects that enhance operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Develop creative and strategic solutions to address challenges and improve systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, reporting, and reconciliation processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow instructions meticulously when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically to solve problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with team members and leadership.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
